And no the quality is not manifest, the soles are very cheap on these boots, the insoles are paper thin, the interior seams are rough and unfinished, no lining. Very disapointing, returned immediatly. Fool me once Blundstone...I'll go with Timberlands at half the price.

I decided to replace my now 10 year old 500's with the new 510's in black to get something different. I am a forever loyal fan of this style of shoe/boot. As others have noted, they can be mixed with jeans, khaki pants, etc. I would not wear them with dress clothes, but someone might be able to get away with it.

These are hard wearing, well made, and are great because they are almost an "anti-style" so they never go "OUT of style"!

The sizing can be confusing, but this line of boot is very consistent with sizing.

I am not such a fan of Amazon for buying shoes because if they do not fit you have to pay for return shipping. Beware.

The only problem with Blunnies is finding them and figuring out the correct size. These are the second pair that I have bought for my son, who is now 12, since he outgrew the first pair. They didn't owe me a dime. He wears them everywhere -- they are so comfortable, and being in the northeast, they double as snow and rain boots since they are waterproof. I had previously purchased them for my husband, who adores them as well. When they travel, my husband and son always take their blunnies since they are not only good for everyday wear with blue jeans, but with a nice pair of trousers, they also can be dressed up and go out to dinner.

I bought these in Brown Dirty Suede. I am normally a size 8 and the size 8 (38 EU) fits well, although they are loosening up a bit with wear. These boots are super cute. Look great w/ jeans or pants and terrific with a skirt and tights. They fit loose around the leg, so are a great choice if you have a large calf. The distressed look is great and they are very comfortable. The ONLY reason I'm giving these 4 stars is that the dye in the leather wears off on my socks which I find annoying. I still would like another pair in another color, though I highly recommend these boots.

I was really excited about these shoes. However, I got them and have mixed reviews. The top half of the boot is very cute, it's kind of floppy and wide, a nice boho look. The bottom half(the toe part) is a bit too pointy and narrow and not very comfortable. The color is great. They'll probably not look that great with jeans, but might be ok with skirts.

These are great boots. I was a little worried about them being too narrow. When I got them I had a really hard get them on. My foot just would not go. I put them back in the box very disappointed. Then I decided to give them one more go before I sent them back. I took a little wiggling but my foot slipped in. They are insanely comfortable once they are on. They do run narrow, but I did not feel any pinching. Awesome boots. Love the anthacite color.

I just received these in black and love them. They are slouchy go with a variety of outfits. Western style without being over the top cowgirl. They run true to size but a tad narrow in the toe if you have wide feet. I recommend them at the sale price b/c while I think they are beautiful and stylish, I would not pay the full $150 for them--I got them for 44 and change which made them a great deal. :-)

Right after I ordered these I realized they were faux-leather, which is not something I usually go for. Once I tried them on, I decided to keep them. The faux-leather has a nice, soft texture, and the boots are very comfortable. They also have a decent lining that I think will keep my feet warm all winter long, and they are really cute. A little pricey for faux-leather, but I am happy with them overall.

Within the last year, my husband bought himself his first adult cowboys boots. They were brown durango's and he wore them so much he soon begged for some new ones in black for Christmas. Well he had also recently purchased a motorcycle so I ordered these boots the same size as his cowboys boots and gave them to him for Christmas. He certainly wasn't expecting these boots and might have been a little disappointed they weren't the black armadillo boots that he asked for.

Well it has been around 2 weeks and he absolutely loves these boots!!! The rubber bottoms are great when he is on the bike and they were easy to break in. He wears them all the time now and says they were his favorite gift from this holiday season.

He did say the would prefer floorboards rather than pegs for his motorcycle, but he is always looking for new things to upgrade on that thing anyway. :-)

Shoes arrived today. From the moment they were pulled on to my feet these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worm. Fit Great and Look Great. One minor problem is that the bottoms between the heels and the shoes are very slippery and slide on the pegs of my Motorcycle. I am certain this will go away as they are worn and get scuffed.

I have super sensitive feet and the breaking in period can literally phase a shoe out before they even make it into my rotation. This boot was a rare insta-wear. They are a true boot (meaning they are made for you to wear socks with- not just tights), they are roomy- but I wear a size 9 , I bought a sizes 9 and they fit. I don't understand the previous reviewer saying that hers were a size & 1/2 to big... maybe she bought a 9 but wears a 6..... ;) Also, they are genuine leather (not PU) and they are made in Brazil which is known for their quality..think Corso Como. I bought the caramel colored boots and am now looking for the chocolate. I love them and have received several compliments.

It's style is perfect, really cute biker look and cheap, cheap,cheap, but when I got them home the size was way too big even after sizing down and the sole was made of some sort of plastic that slip slided all over my hardwood floors, I was afraid of what might happen in them on a wet sidewalk. This is a pair of fun, yet sturdy boots at a good price. Seemingly very durable, and hold up fine in the rain. The quality of the material is pretty decent compared with the price.

These boots are loose fitting around the calves-- the boot slips on, no zipper. Nonetheless, they are easy to put on/take off. This boot falls a bit short of the knee, and also, run a size bigger than normal. (aka. If you wear a 10, buy a 9). They are very comfortable-- so comfy that there is no "breaking-in" period!

A little research goes a long way: though most Dr. Martens are made at facilities in China or Thailand, they do offer a Vintage line that is still made at the Northampton factory. The difference is about US$60, but absolutely worth it. The soles still have "Made In England" embossed on them and everything. Thus, when ordering DMs, read carefully - only a few styles (the 1460, 1490, and 1914 boots and the 1461 shoes) are available from England, and only in particular colors.

Rule of thumb: the boots ranging to US$120 are manufactured in Asia, while the ones priced around US$180 are English. Many online retailers (including, sadly, Amazon itself) don't make the distinction.

Don't believe the haters.

The Made in China vs. Made in England doesn't amount to a significant difference, just make sure that you are buying the correct leather finish to live up to your expectations and treat your boots (and feet) well.

If you prefer Made in England there is a 1460 classic reissue that is about $40 more than you'd pay here. I've been wearing Docs since 1987 and can testify that the shoe laces have always been of poor quality, but the boots themselves are the best and well worth the minuscule effort required to replace the laces.

The break-in period is a killer, unless you wear thick wool socks (or you're some genetic mutant that has been engineered with unusually durable skin) you'll probably end up with blistered heels. Cotton, lycra, acrylic, nylon, etc just won't cut it-- go with wool, thick squishy wool hunting socks.

After that its smooth sailing. They are comfy, tough, easy to care for (some linseed oil on the leather every so often does wonders) and frankly, they age well.

Since I have narrow feet (for a woman) I have problems wearing other brands of shoes-- the unisex sizing is perfect, there is plenty of room for my toes (which are freakishly long) without any excess width for my foot or heel to slip around. The boot toes and heels are strong, strong enough that my 130 lbs Great Dane can't crush them (and believe me, she has tried.) The ankles lace up tightly and neatly, so that my foot doesn't float or rub at all, even when I run (and I run in them all the time.)

My Docs have never lost their bounce from the air cushions or suffered any of the other maladies experienced by other reviewers-- all I can say is that for 20+ years of wearing Docs (and the 10 years that my son has worn them) we've never experienced those problems.

I took the chance and ordered them, a half size smaller per some reviewers. They came in the day before a business trip to NYC. I went to the airport, pulled them off for security, flew from Boston to NY, walked a few city blocks, sat in a conference room all day, walked some more to dinner, took a cab back to the airport and got the last flight home. How did it go? Fantastic! When I put them on the day before, there was a slight pinch near my pinkie toe, but within two hours, the leather had adapted and I've never felt it since. The boots were comfortable all day long, and every day since. The quality of the leather and sole is excellent. I can tell that these boots will be with me for many years. Thanks Frye.

I did listen to all the advice and ordered down 1/2 size. They are so tight, and it appears I should not count on them stretching out. The banana color was gorgeous, I was so in love with them I re-ordered up 1/2 size and they fit perfectly. Problem is the new ones that fit are more orange, and they have TERRIBLY pronounced dark orange stripes going through the leather on the shaft, and I planned to wear them with skirts. One boot is way worse than the other, they don't look like a pair. I am fully aware that leather has imperfections, but these look defective. I have waited a long time to spend this kind of money on my dream boots, now I am not sure I want to risk ordering again.

Just received my order today and I am in LOVE. I was a bit scared to order shoes over the internet, but I called a million stores and couldn't find these boots anywhere. Summer is here so....First I will say to follow the advice and definitely order a half-size smaller than you would normally wear. I didn't listen and ended up having to deal with returning the first pair, which was annoying. My fault though for not listening. I own a pair of Frye Daisy Dukes, and those are a half-size smaller than my normal size so I should have known better. Anyway, these boots are exactly what I hoped they would be. I got mine in saddle. The color is gorgeous. I was worried about them being too orange-y, but they are not orange at all. The leather is beautiful and so is the wooden heel. I was suprised that the heel was finished and shiny. And the boots are lighter than I was expecting them to be. They are no heavier than other boots I own. They were comfortable the first time I wore them. I love them so much I am wearing them around the house right now. I don't want to take them off. I will definitely be planning my outfits around these boots for weeks to come. If you are on the fence, I would highly recommend getting a pair. They look rugged, but they feel exquisite when you slip them on! My friends are gonna be super jealous when they see these.

I purchased my Campus boots in banana after four months of coveting and six months of wearing my Frye Harness boots every day. I am 5'7", average build, and wear a 10.5 or 11, normally. The Frye Campus fit me perfectly from day one. (Even more comfortably than the Harness boots.) Just a finger or two extra width in the calf makes them slide on or off easily enough, the leather is incredibly supple, and extra rubber on the heel base will help it last. While there is padding and some arch support, I would recommend getting a nice pair of insoles for people who are on their feet alot. It really makes the boots unbeatable. Great for a little more height, works with dresses or jeans, fall through spring!

Went to Nordstrom's to search for boots. Wanted to try something new (i.e., boots) and these seemed very masculine. And apparently popular with women. Better yet, still made in the USA.

The beginning comfort is amazing for boots. Five stars because of the price. Other, smaller boots at Nordstroms cost much more.

Nordstrom seems to be discontinuing the 12R harness models and coming out with a shorter, more expensive, and harder to put on boot. Get these, not those --- they're better and THE Classic. Nordstrom did have a size 9 Medium at 30% off. An excellent price. It seemed a little long for me but gorgeous in chestnut. So, I just ordered and received an 8 1/2 Wide gaucho color pair (which seems to be the famous color). It only took one day to arrive at the house from another vendor (free shipping). Neither with tax.

My first thought is that the 8 1/2 W fits me better and is harder to find. And it should stretch with time. Then again, the Chestnut looks sharper with a sort of shiny brown, black toe (I might change my mind with time). It's actually easier to put on and off (neither has been broken in yet). I'm leaning towards the gaucho as most seem to prefer it and it fits like a glove and should get even better with time. Interestingly, the size 9 Chestnut has an extra watch band type piece of leather in the back which allows one to loosen the boot to ease putting it on and off.

Either one of these is an American Classic and, of course, comfort and correct size should be key. The Wide boots are definitely available --- although not at some stores, including Nordstrom.

Buy one in case they discontinue it or change it or increase the price. Given the quality, that they're benchmade, and the amount of leather, get these now!

Nothing goes better with jeans. And, if you're short, they effortlessly, comfortably and elegantly add an inch to your height.

These will last a long time and become winter wear for me for years (I don't yet know if they would be hot in the summer.) The chestnut is a shinier leather and heavier while the gaucho is more like a lighter weight suede. Neither is lined. Great for a motorcycle (compared to sneakers). Even better for fashion, dependability and pride of ownership. I supect women will like these as much as I do.

The only difficulty I encountered with ordering these boots is sizing as I was unable to find any vendors in Hawaii to actually try a pair on. The best that I can do to help is to tell you that these boots follow closely the sizing of Army issued boots. I ordered a half-size up just in case and use an insert to make the fit perfect. This is not needed as the boots are very comfortable without the insert if you purchase the right size.

Every other part of the experience is greatly positive.

The boots are solid and well constructed. The black and gaucho colors are all I can vouch for with my own eyes, but are both very attractive. The leather comes pliable already, which is great for comfort immediately.

One of the surprising pleasures was how fast these boots arrived. Amazon gave me a 6 day window about 4 or 5 days out from when I ordered and the boots arrived both times before the window had even opened.

I would recommend these boots to friends and family. Not that I would have to as I've already received compliments and inquiries about where to buy them.

These are great boots. As others have said, they look great and are definitely cool. I was a little concerned when I first put them on. I read on other sites that they do not stretch. They do. And, the leather softens up. It will take a while, though, and the stretching is minimal. Don't go a size small, but if they feel snug, wear them around the house. I've probably got about 10 full days of wear on mine now and they have become quite comfortable. Not as much as my faithful Blundstones, but still quite comfortable.

We reordered and the boot was once again irregular. One boot was wider than the other. It was easy to see when they were together. The heel on one boot did not sit flat, while the other did. The shaft on one boot was noticeably shorter than the other. I was very disappointed. We did not expect irregular boots for the price ($210) that we were paying.

Frye is world-renown for shoes, made in the good ol' US of A. They're not only commendable in quality but durability and versatility. Wear them with skirts, pants, even shorts, and you'll be looking good year round.

The Engineer 12R Boot-Gaucho is the only Frye boot I own that I actually got the the size I usually wear, rather than the half size larger I usually have to order them in. That's because the toe is rounded, rather than the typical box toe that Frye is know for and allows for my wide feet, and fits easily and comfortably.

With the arch support and cushioned sole, and the lightness of the boot is the second thing you'll notice, after admiring the wonderful, thick leather, and the two buckles that help with fit over the foot and around the top. The buckle for the calf area is sewn in parts, with a lip attached to the side to give the wearer a tighter or looser fit, and it will fray. I've only had these for about ten months, and I had to have my shoe repair guy resew that strap back into place. No biggie. The cost will vary, like getting the heel replaced, so shop around, make friends with a reliable shoe repair person. Fixing minor failings and heel replacements are necessary when the leather will far outlast other parts of the shoe, thought it shouldn't be a heavy burden--just regular maintenance on a shoe that'll last you for decades.

The leather is nice rich mahogany color, and will scuff, but it won't look bad and will eventually fade. Most of the Frye boots are notoriously heavy, and can chafe the toes and heel as a result. You won't get that from this boot, it's made for specifically for comfort. They're 12R but they're actually slightly lower in front and rise slightly upward at and angle at the back of the calf. Subtle, but clean. The thick heel is cushy and give good traction (especially in snow and ice), and easily replaceable when the time comes--so, as I always say, make friends with the nearest shoe repairman,or woman! They can also treat the leather for weather or to just clean them up when they get dirty, or to soften the leather, but I just use saddlesoap every once in a while and make sure they get a good clean here and there.

I wear them with any kind of sock, but ones that a bit slippery since there are no handles to tug on to get them on if you wear thicker socks.

All in all, if you got distance to walk in, this boot is perfect, you'll look good walking all the way there!

I bought a pair of Blundstone 500's last season and I went to put them on and the soles were literally crumbling. Clearly a defect in manufacturing. I went online and contacted Blundstone directly via email and they forwarded my issue to a U.S. rep. The US rep contacted me the next day and asked that I send them back which I did the same day. I am anxious to see how the situation is resolved. My first impression is that Blundstone and their reps take their customers seriously as well as any issues one may have with their product which is why I like to buy from a reputable company who stands by their brand. I'll keep you posted....so far....so good......I am pleased.

These are terrific boots and well worth the money. No need to break them in, they are comfortable right from the start. My daughter wears these 60 hours a week and if she didn't get them wet all the time they would last longer. She still gets almost a year out of a pair.

Look at the Australian sizing. It's stamped on the bottom of the boot. I wear a wide Women's 7 1/2 US sizing. This is a 4 1/2 AUS. A normal 7 1/2 would fit a 4 AUS. That "1/2" indicates wider width. The Blundstone 550 is same style but cut narrower.

My Blunnies not only held up for years but were extremely comfortable the whole time, and I'm talking about walking on hard surfaces. They always look good -- the more beat up the better -- and they're good year 'round. For some reason they even look good with shorts -- I guess it's some Aussie special ingredient! I was pleased with the quality of these boots when they arrived. They are clearly well-made and were comfortable once I got the proper size. I had purchased a smaller size than I would have normally selected based on other reviews indicating that they ran very large. I bought a size 6 and I normally wear a US women's size 8.5. They were too small, so I returned them for a 7. These fit better, though they are slightly too wide. That may be because they are sized for men, however. Regardless, if you have the chance to try them on locally before purchasing, I would suggest you do so to determine the proper fit for you. Shoemania was helpful and expedient with the exchange. I expect to have these boots for many years to come.

So there is no need for introducing the Frye household name. They make wondrous boots, and this was my first pair so I was expecting A LOT. They have lived up to it. The right boot was hard for me to put on at first but once you're in, you're in and it feels great. They were a bit heavy since I'm used to wearing lighter boots and I didn't expect these flat boots to be so heavy. But they are made to be sturdy and I love that about them! I received these boots today and I was pleasantly surprised; sometimes the picture you see online and what you get are 2 different things. Anyways, right away I noticed how soft the leather was which makes them seem already "broken in." They have that great leather smell and are made very well. They are pretty much true to size. I wear a size 9 so that's what I ordered and they are a tad big but thats nothing thicker socks or an insert can't fix. Very comfortable...I wore them all day without a problem. They look great with skinny jeans and skirts. I wore them with a pair of semi baggy boyfriend jeans rolled up almost to the top of the boot. Very cute. If you're looking for a rigger type boot that is a bit boyish but feminine at the same time this is the boot for you. The reason I gave it 4 stars: I don't care for the sole color. I saw these boots in an Aldo store and loved them. They had the cognac in my size but not the medium brown. Unfortunatly I didn't check the names of the colors before looking for them online. I saw the picture of cognac and bought them. I've uploaded a picture of the boots I recieved to show a more accurate color. I just took the picture with the over head lights on so it's actually slightly lighter/more yellow than the photo. I'm usually a size 8-8 1/2 and purchased a 9. They're slightly too big but I'd be afraid to go to an 8. They sell boot inserts at their store so that would probably make the boots fit. These are being sent back.

This shoe was cute and fit (size 9 usually and ordered size 11). However, I noticed the shoe had a bit of strange coloring, which could have been on purpose, but was different from the picture. The toe was darker than the rest of the boot, which I was not fond of. I sent the shoes back because they were too clunky of a high heel for me. It had a wonderful interior. I suggest this for anyone who is talented with wearing (wooden)high heels.

I saw many reviews commented the size to be too small. I usually wear 7 1/2 or 8, so I would have gotten 8, but I got 9 instead. They are on a narrow side as reviews said, but 9 was too big for me. They're wearable with inserts, so I kept them, but not too comfortable. Design is nice, though.------to buy shoes online is not a good thing to do.

These boots run a bit narrow, which is perfect for me. They are comfortable, and I love how the cognac color looks with denim. They are slouchy boots, and I love that about them. They fit comfortably over skinny jeans and look really cute with fall dresses, too. Plus, the price made them a steal!

There were exactly what i was looking for- a little rugged and western-ish. They don't quite look like the picture on Amazon because they tend to slouch, but in a good way. In fact, i guess i prefer them this way. It is not ideal to wear with leggings but they work excellent with jeans. That's perfect for me as i'm not a big legging person and wanted them to fit over skinny jeans, which they do very well. The leather looks and feels really good, the construction is fabulous and it looks expensive. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again! I manage to walk all day in these and stay comfortable yet stylish. They do tend to run a little bigger. I usually wear a 8.5 but the 8 worked great for me. Good for people with wide calves and longer legs.

I loved the look of these boots when I saw them on Amazon. I live in New Zealand so it was quite an effort to get them to me; I had to have them delivered to a relative in the States and then sent to me in NZ. So with the exchange rate and delivery costs they ended up costing me over $160!! And I hate them! I have worn them once and they fell down to my ankles within seconds of walking in them. If they would stay up I would adore them; they are a lovely chocolate colour, the suede looks good, and they are a perfect height (I am 5'10" and it is hard to find boots long enough) but they WON'T STAY UP!!! So there they sit in my closet looking pretty ...

If anyone has some trick to keep them up that they could share I would be eternally grateful!

I heard so many good stories about the Frye Boot, but was always afraid of spending too much and it not being worth it! Oh my but these are totally worth it! A lot of the reviews said to go a half size down, but I am a true size 10 and they fit perfect, plus when it gets cooler I need to wear thicker socks so make sure if you plan to do that to not go any smaller. Great shoe, would buy another pair!

FRYE Women's Harness 12R Boot

I have collected quite a few colors/forms of the frye harness boot and was thrilled to find it in this color. A great purple, not too loud but definitely purple. Oddly, it goes very well with more colors than you would think.

The fit is more "feminine" than some of my other frye harness boots. The heel fits better and it feels overall more "fitted" and less clunky. The 7.5 perfectly fits my average size 8 foot. I tend to prefer these boots with a very thin sock, even a hosiery type sock. I don't think buying a larger size and wearing a thicker sock gives as good a fit. The only downside--the leather doesn't have that thick, waxy, "lux" feel that some of the older colors/models have. Still very nicely made though and makes other lines of boots feel really cheesy in comparision. You won't regret these at all. May be tough for a wide foot though.

I got these boots after searching for a pair I liked for a looooong time, and they were worth the price! I used to walk everywhere, and the multi-mile walk to work/school was never uncomfortable in these boots. They are fun, comfortable, sturdy, and unique enough that they stand out in a crowd. I've seen them worn with skirts and they always look cute, and they are great with jeans. I did have to have them resoled after a little over a year because the heel was completely worn through, and I was a little surprised because they are supposed to be really good soles, but I walked A LOT in them, so I guess it was worth it. The leather is the kind of quality that only improves with age, so I look forward to wearing these for years to come.
